Introducing Our Doctors: Dr Calvin Koh



This is the first in a series about our doctors in our practice.



Background and Training

Dr Calvin Koh is a gastroenterologist practicing at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.  He obtained his medical degree (MBBS) from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and underwent further medical training at the National University Hospital (NUH), where he subsequently obtained his specialist accreditation from the Specialist Accreditation Board (SAB) of Singapore and is a fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore.

Following completion of specialist training, he was awarded an Academic Medicine Development Award and undertook an advanced endoscopy fellowship under the auspices of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) with the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at the University of Florida, USA to further his interest in interventional endoscopy.


Clinical Interests and Service

Prior to joining The Gastroenterology Group, he was senior consultant at NUH, where he also served as director of endoscopy, as well as an assistant professor at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine with clinical and research interests in endoscopy, pancreatobiliary disease, gastric and colon cancer, with more than 50 academic papers in these fields in regional and international scientific journals.  He is also faculty for local and regional gastroenterology conferences, and is a member of the Residency Advisory Committee for Gastroenterology training in Singapore.

Involvement in Professional Bodies

He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) (London), as well as the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (FASGE), and a current committee member of the chapter of Gastroenterology in the College of Physicians at the Academy of Medicine, Singapore 


Procedures Performed and Conditions Managed.

Dr Calvin believes in a holistic assessment of the patient in which endoscopy is often not the only part of addressing their symptoms and conditions.

Insurance and Panels

Dr Calvin Koh is on the insurance panel for: Great Eastern, Prudential and Raffles Health Insurance, as well as a wide range of corporate insurances.  For other Insurers, (eg AIA, Singlife, HSBC), arrangements can be made as required.
