Dr Calvin Koh
Prior to joining The Gastroenterology Group, Dr Koh was senior consultant at NUH, where he also served as director of endoscopy, as well as an assistant professor at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine with clinical and research interests in endoscopy, pancreatobiliary disease, gastric and colon cancer, with more than 50 academic papers in these fields in regional and international scientific journals. He is also faculty for local and regional gastroenterology conferences, and is a member of the Residency Advisory Committee for Gastroenterology training in Singapore.

Dr Lui Hock Foong
Dr Lui’s practice involves looking after individuals with general digestive and liver diseases, complex liver diseases and liver cirrhosis, liver transplantation. He performs diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. He serves as Visiting Consultant with 1) Singapore General Hospital, 2) Ni Ni Lab & Medical Centre, Myanmar (registered with the Myanmar Medical Council) and previously 3) Kobe International Foundation Medical Centre, Japan. in Kobe. He was Medical Director of the Mt Elizabeth Liver Transplant Programme. He in conversant in English, Mandarin, Malay, Bahasa Indonesia and dialects of Cantonese and Hokkien.

An endoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure where a thin, flexible tube with a camera is used to examine the digestive tract. It is often recommended to diagnose or monitor conditions like acid reflux, ulcers, or abnormal growths.
Before a colonoscopy, you will be given detailed instructions, which typically include a liquid diet the day before and taking a prescribed laxative to empty the colon for a clear view during the procedure.
Most gastroenterology procedures, like endoscopy and colonoscopy, are performed with sedation, ensuring you remain comfortable and pain-free throughout the process. Some patients may experience mild discomfort afterward, but recovery is typically quick.
